Privacy Policy

Clear information about how CareerLab handles personal data

This policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, who may receive it, how long we keep it and the choices available to learners, visitors and organisation users.

Effective date: 8 July 2026

At a glance

NodeVera CareerLab uses personal information to create and secure accounts, provide the Virtual Workplace, assess learning activity, support users and operate the service responsibly.

We do not sell personal information. We limit collection to information that supports the platform, security, legal obligations and agreed services.

1

Who we are and when this policy applies

NodeVera CareerLab is a practical IT learning and assessment platform provided by NodeVera Cyber IT & Services. In this policy, “NodeVera”, “CareerLab”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the team responsible for operating the CareerLab platform.

This policy applies when you visit the CareerLab website, create an account, use a free trial, participate in an internship simulation, contact support, submit an organisation enquiry or use CareerLab through a school, bootcamp, employer or other organisation.

Where an organisation provides CareerLab access to you, that organisation may also have its own privacy notice. Depending on the arrangement, it may decide why some information is processed, while NodeVera operates the platform under written instructions and applicable data protection requirements.

2

Information we collect

Account and profile information

This may include your name, email address, country, password credentials in protected form, selected career track, experience level, organisation affiliation and account preferences.

Learning and assessment information

We record activity needed to deliver the simulation, including tasks opened, actions completed, responses submitted, scores, feedback, time spent, progress, scenario decisions, support requests and completion records.

Technical and security information

We may collect device type, browser information, approximate network location, sign in events, session activity, error information, security alerts and audit records. This information helps us protect accounts, prevent misuse and maintain service reliability.

Communication and support information

We keep information you provide when you contact CareerLab, request a demonstration, report a problem, respond to a survey or communicate with support.

Subscription and transaction information

If paid services are introduced, we may process plan details, billing status, transaction references, invoices and related records. Payment card details should be handled by an authorised payment provider rather than stored directly by CareerLab.

3

How we obtain information

We obtain information in several ways:

  • Directly from you when you register, complete onboarding, submit work or contact us.
  • Automatically when you use the website, authentication service or Virtual Workplace.
  • From a school, bootcamp, employer or organisation that invites you to CareerLab.
  • From service providers that support authentication, email delivery, hosting, payment processing, analytics or customer support.

We ask organisations to provide only information they are authorised to share and that is reasonably necessary for the agreed service.

4

Why we use information and our lawful bases

We process personal information only where there is a recognised lawful basis. The basis depends on the activity and the law that applies.

  • To provide the service. We use account, learning and subscription information to create your account, deliver simulations, calculate progress, issue reports and provide support. This is generally necessary to perform our agreement with you or the organisation providing your access.
  • To secure CareerLab. We use authentication, device, session and audit information to protect users, investigate abuse, prevent fraud and maintain platform integrity. This supports our legitimate interests and may also help us meet legal obligations.
  • To communicate with you. We send essential account, verification, service and security messages because they are necessary to operate your account. Marketing messages are sent only where permitted, and you may unsubscribe from them.
  • To improve the platform. We analyse usage, errors, learner outcomes and support patterns to improve features, accessibility, content quality and reliability. Where possible, we use aggregated or deidentified information.
  • To meet legal and administrative obligations. We may keep and use information for accounting, dispute handling, regulatory requests, legal claims and compliance duties.

Where processing depends on consent, you may withdraw that consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before the withdrawal.

5

Simulation records, assessment and artificial intelligence

CareerLab may evaluate task completion, communication, documentation, prioritisation and technical decisions using scoring rules, automated checks and artificial intelligence assisted review. These tools support learning feedback and help instructors identify areas for development.

CareerLab does not intend to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects based only on automated processing. Where an assessment is disputed or may materially affect an organisation decision, a user may request human review through the CareerLab support team or the relevant organisation administrator.

Learner submissions should not include real passwords, confidential employer information, live customer data or other information that you are not authorised to provide.

6

Cookies and similar technologies

CareerLab uses necessary cookies and local storage to keep users signed in, protect sessions, remember theme preferences and support essential platform functions.

If optional analytics, personalisation or advertising technologies are introduced, we will provide appropriate notice and choice before using them where consent is required. Browser settings may allow you to remove or block cookies, but blocking necessary cookies may prevent account and workplace features from operating correctly.

7

When we share information

We may share limited information with the following recipients where necessary:

  • Cloud hosting, database, authentication, email, payment, analytics and support providers working under appropriate agreements.
  • Your school, bootcamp, employer or programme administrator when it provides or manages your CareerLab access.
  • Professional advisers, auditors, insurers and legal representatives where reasonably required.
  • Government, regulatory, judicial or law enforcement bodies where disclosure is required or permitted by law.
  • A successor organisation if CareerLab is involved in a merger, restructuring, financing or transfer of business assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality and privacy safeguards.

We do not sell personal information or allow third parties to use learner records for their own unrelated marketing.

8

International data transfers

Some service providers may process information outside Nigeria or outside your country of residence. When personal data is transferred internationally, we use lawful transfer mechanisms and reasonable contractual, organisational and security safeguards appropriate to the destination and service.

Organisations that require information about hosting locations or transfer arrangements may contact the CareerLab team during their review process.

9

How long we keep information

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected. The period depends on the type of record and may include:

  • The duration of your account, trial, subscription or organisation programme.
  • The time needed to provide certificates, performance records, support and account recovery.
  • The period needed to detect fraud, investigate security incidents, resolve disputes and enforce agreements.
  • Any period required by tax, accounting, regulatory or other applicable law.

When information is no longer required, we delete it, anonymise it or securely restrict further use, subject to technical and legal limitations.

10

How we protect information

We use administrative, technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information from accidental loss, misuse, alteration, unauthorised access and disclosure. Measures include account verification, access controls, secure sessions, encryption in transit, audit records, service monitoring and restricted administrative access.

No online service can guarantee absolute security. Users should protect their credentials and report suspicious activity promptly. More information is available on our Trust and Security page.

11

Your privacy rights and choices

Subject to applicable law and appropriate identity verification, you may have the right to:

  • Ask whether we process your personal information and request access to it.
  • Correct information that is inaccurate, incomplete, outdated or misleading.
  • Request deletion or restriction where the legal conditions are met.
  • Object to certain processing, including direct marketing.
  • Withdraw consent where consent is the basis for processing.
  • Request portable information where a portability right applies.
  • Ask for human review of certain automated assessments.
  • Complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission or another competent privacy authority.

To make a request, email careerlab@nodeveracyber.com. We may request information needed to confirm identity and protect the account. Some requests may be limited where information must be retained by law or where another person’s rights would be affected.

12

Children and younger learners

CareerLab is not intended for children under 13 to create independent accounts. A learner who is under 18, or under the applicable age of legal capacity, should use CareerLab only with appropriate parent, guardian, school or programme authorisation.

Where consent is required for a child or a person who lacks legal capacity, we may require appropriate consent and age verification. Schools and training providers are responsible for obtaining any permissions required for learners they enrol.

A parent or guardian who believes that a child provided information without appropriate permission should contact us so that we can review and take suitable action.

13

Changes, questions and complaints

We may update this policy when the platform, legal requirements or our data practices change. We will post the revised version on this page and update the effective date. Where a change materially affects users, we may also provide notice through email or the platform.

Privacy questions and requests may be sent to careerlab@nodeveracyber.com. General information about Nigeria’s privacy regulator is available from the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

Questions about these terms or this policy may be sent to careerlab@nodeveracyber.com.
